Need help setting up Apache web server

k im trying to set up an apache web server.
i already have my domain- menofwar servebeer
i installed the script that sends my ip to no-ip. com to update it.
(i even checked with system monitor to make sure it is running).
Im using Red Hat Linux 9 Bible to help me install but they figure i know a little about procedures and stuff but i dont so i need your guys help.
k so i have apache installed, i went to localhost/ and it showed the apache test page.
so i put my index.html in and it shows it when i go to localhost.
i checked no-ip.........com and my ip address matches the one they are sending the redirection to.
so i told my friend to go to menofwar servebeer doesnt work.
so i send him my ip address, doesnt work.
i turned off firewall settings.
i used some command to make the server start up on startup,(read it in RHL9Bible).
now that is where im at. Nobody can access my site over internet. Can any of you guys give me some step by step instructions on setting my apache web server up?
your help would be much appreciated.
figure out the urls cuz stupid site wont let me give urls :(

ah yes if you can help me its much easier to communicate if you contact me on aol instant messenger- thegreatstoney

Well your address resolves to an IP 66.161.247.187, but it isn't even pingable, are you sure your firewall isn't blocking port 80 at leasr, is your ISP allows you to run a web server???

thegreatstoney 07-10-2003 10:57 PM

well my dsl router didnt have port forwarding on so i turned it on and opened port 80 see if it works now

From a client if you use the IP 66.161.247.187 should it work?
Or
IP 66.161.247.187:80

When I run apache manually it does not identify my IP and so defaults to the loopback 127.0.0.1
Why?
Any workroud?
