need help setting sticky bits to prevent file overwrite
I've set up an ftp server using vsftpd, and I want to prevent a user from uploading a file and overwriting what he's already uploaded. Also, I don't want him to be able to erase a file from his directory.
Is there a way, via sticky bits, or something else, that I can configure the folder to allow him to upload files but at the same time to prevent him from overwriting a file or from erasing an existing file? thanks. Kenn |
Here's a good resource: http://www.zzee.com/solutions/linux-permissions.shtml. Go to section 6.

My apologies. After my initial post, it occurred to me that I probably had not posted in the correct forum, so I submitted it to a different category. It won't happen again.
BTW, your answer was EXTRAORDINARILY helpful ... I appreciate your directing me to the appropriate vsftpd configuration settings. thanks again. Kenn |
If you want to move your qn to a different forum, just use the 'Report' button to ask the mods to move it.
