need help securing apache server in Slackware 11
 

I'm using apache on Slackware11 if it matters. I have changed a few directives so it require a username and password to access "localhost". I can make a certificate using apacheconfig but I'm not sure how to apply it to "localhost". Any suggestions would be great.

Password protecting stuff using httpd.conf directives and using a certificate are two different things. Search LQ for "apache certificate" and you'll find steps like http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...ache_SSL_Howto.
