Need Help: mp3 support in konqueror
Hello everyone,
As I am new to Linux, this forum help me a lot to configure and use my Fedora Core 5 installation without many problems. But still I have some problems which I think can be solved with your help. Here they are... 1) How can I know which audio and video codecs are installed in my system and how to use different codecs in different A/V softwares? Because xine and xmms can play my mp3/mpeg/avi files(with gstreamer) but Noatun can't. How to set Noatun to play my mp3 files with gstreamer? And if these are application specific codec then can I use them outside those application? 2) How to play 3gp video files in Fedora? xine shows the video but there is no sound. 3) How to set konqueror to preview mp3 and other A/V files in Fedora? and the last one is a little different... 4) Is there any stock charting software available in Linux such as Metastock, AdvanceGet (Windows). I have used qtstalker which is good but I need something more advance. I am sure I will get my answers. Thanks in advance... Subrata Bera. |

Hi michux,
First of all thankyou very much for your help...I really appreciate that. But as I am very new to Linux, I am unable to solve my problems as per your suggestions. First of all there is no such option in Noatun or kaboodle (which is the default preview application in my system) configuration boxes which sets it to use gstreamer plugin. Second, aRts control tool lists mp3 as available media files but no application uses that (I don't no why). And third, I found no option in Control center (KDE Components->File Associations, File Manager) which can directly control the preview option in konqurer. I can only set kaboodle as preview application in konqueror. The list show mp3 as supported file type but unable to play that. But amarok, xine and xmms succesfully playing my mp3 files. Thankyou once again for your help and hoping for more... Subrata Bera. |
