Need help installing/upgrading Mozilla
 

First, thanks to everyone that has helped me get this far.

When I installed Slackware, I guess I got Mozilla version 1.0. I wanted to try to upgrade, so I downloaded 1.2.1 from the Mozilla site. At first I couldn't get the installer to run, but that's because I wasn't running it from within X (I was just in another virtual terminal). I had downloaded the .tar.gz file to /usr/local/bin/mozilla. I installed it to /usr/local/mozilla. I didn't see the need and/or couldn't figure out how to uninstall the previous version of Mozilla first :), but the installer did ask me if I wanted to delete any previous installations and I hit 'Yes.'

Ok, my questions...

Did the installer get rid of everything else that might conflict with the new version? How can I check on this?

When I "export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/mozilla", it only lasts for the one session. How do I get /usr/local/mozilla permanently in my PATH? (I'm sorry, I know this is a really basic question but now when I look around to find out what file I put it in or how I do it, I can't find it anywhere)

Once I do these two things, is there anything else I need to do?

Finally, this is a tiny detail, I know, but my when my mouse in XFCE goes into a Mozilla window, it turns into a standard black pointer from the red pointer I use in XFCE. Is there anyway to keep XFCE's settings in the browser?

As long as it's not throwing error you should be fine...

Put it at the end of /etc/profile for ALL users, or ~/.profile for just your username. You will have to logout/back in for it to take effect (so that the profile file gets read again)

like this:
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/mozilla
export PATH

make sure it is a path to the executable (may be /usr/local/mozilla/bin ?)

Sorry, meant to say make sure it is a path to the directory in which the executable resides :)

One more question that I thought I'd throw in this thread...

In Mozilla, everything that I highlight or select becomes an ugly neon green (i.e. the color the appears when you select text, or click on the URL bar).

I've looked everywhere, where do I change this?
