why would you assume you can't extract it? works fine for me:
Code:
[root@kermit ~]# tar jxvf fcc-8.101-1-Linux.i686.tar.bz2
opt/firstclass/
opt/firstclass/download/
opt/firstclass/fcc.rez
opt/firstclass/fcapps
opt/firstclass/settings/
opt/firstclass/settings/home.fc
opt/firstclass/plugins/
opt/firstclass/fcc
opt/firstclass/fcfonts
opt/firstclass/fcp/
opt/firstclass/fcp/High-Speed Internet.FCP
opt/firstclass/fcp/Local Network.FCP
opt/firstclass/fcp/Dialup Internet.FCP
opt/firstclass/fcp/Internet.FCP
opt/firstclass/firstclass.png
opt/firstclass/Images/
opt/firstclass/fcctemp/
etc...
so their plan is largely that you simply extract it to / and things should go in the right place. YMMV of course...
