Need help in setting up SNMP on RedHat 6.4 for monitoring via PRTG s/w

Hi Experts,

I am trying to set-up SNMP clients on my Dell Servers Running RedHat 6.4. I want to monitor them via PRTG monitoring sw. I tried to Google for the snmp sample configuration for the same, but found multiple links with different sets of command and ways. Could any one please share/suggest the best way to configure the same and get it working. I have snmp running on Windows servers and all works fine with it. Just facing some issues with RedHat as doing it for the first time.

Appreciate all your help.

There is no 'best way' to do it...you read the SNMP documentation, and configure it according to what you want, period. To just get it working with a default configuration (as you did with Windows), you just need to install and enable the service. Amazingly, putting "how to configure snmp on red hat enterprise 6" into Google pulls up, as the VERY FIRST HIT:
https://access.redhat.com/site/docum...nfiguring.html

...a complete how-to from Red Hat. Since you have your CCIE, CCSP, and RHCE 'certifications', it should be VERY easy for you to follow...exactly what part did you find difficult?

Also, since you're using Red Hat ENTERPRISE, that means you're PAYING FOR IT, right? Have you contacted Red Hat support for help? Searched their knowledegbase? Contacted PRTG (since that is ALSO commercial, pay-for software) for help?
