The firefox-3.5.1.tar.bz2 contains the binary executable of firefox, so you have simply to extract the directory from the archive and launch firefox from there. Instructions, here. Anyway, I suggest to keep the currently installed firefox until you have fully tested the new version (or eventually wait for an official release from CentOS, unless you really need the new features of firefox 3.5).

Please set up the 'adobe-linux-i386.repo' :
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/tha...for_Linux_(YUM)
> > adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
( 4.3 kB )
Commands to use it :
1) su
2) rpm -Uvh adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm

And now you can get the flash-plugin with
3) yum -y install flash-plugin

.....

One of the solutions is here

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html

" To use Flash Player to view Flash content on a 64-bit
operating system, you must run a 32-bit browser. "
.... But I'm not sure it is perfect.

Better news :
The 64 bit version seems not to be in alpha any more
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/l...6_64.so.tar.gz

Unpack libflashplayer-10.0.22.87.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz
to have libflashplayer.so .
'su'
' cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ '
... and restart firefox.
.....
