Need help getting wireless working on Knoppix.

Once knoppix loads I open firefox and it can't connect to anything. ifconfig displays my loopback ip and iwconfig says "no wireless extensions." for all 3.
I'm totally new, but once I get the wireless working with knoppix i'll be building my own linux from scratch. Any help would be fantastic. |
