Need help getting R9 Fury to work with linux

So far I've tried both openSUSE and mint, both get an x server error during installation and won't bring me to the desktop afterwards if I boot with the card plugged in. So far I've tried updating the kernel to 4.3.3 which did not solve anything, and was unable to download the drivers since I can't use the OS with the card in. Help would be greatly appreciated as I really want to make the switch over to linux! I am willing to use whichever distro you guys reccomend

I saw that article but didn't see anywhere where it explains how to actually get it to start working

This round of open-source AMD Linux testing was done from an Intel Core i5 6600K Skylake system. The system had Ubuntu 15.04 x86_64 with the Xfce desktop while upgraded to the Linux 4.2 + DRM-Next kernel (the 4.3 Radeon/AMDGPU code), X.Org Server 1.17.1, xf86-video-ati and xf86-video-amdgpu Git from this week, Mesa 11.1-devel Git from yesterday, and LLVM 3.8.0 SVN. Basically, all of the very latest open-source code as it pertains to graphics testing.
I think he simply downloaded the sources and compiled everything.
