Need help configuring and starting XCDRoast

I'm using Kubuntu and I just installed XCDRoast using Synaptic. When I try to run xcdroast (the executable file is in /usr/bin) using KDE's KMenu->Run Command I get the following message:

Warning:

No root configuration found or none readable!
The superuser must start and configure X-CD-Roast
first, before other users use it.

I don't know if I can or how to run as a superuser from the Run Command, so I switched to the terminal program and tried to run it as a sudo. The result was:

root@tom:/usr/bin # ./xcdroast
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

I'm lost at this point. What do I need to do?

Thank you.

This should help.

1) open up the command line and type "sudo su" and that should make you root.
2) type "xcdroast" as root and then configure as necessary.

At the expense of being kind of annoying I want to dissuade you from using xcdroast. There are some functionality issues with it that are not quite up to date (my two year old laptop was never able to do anything on xcdroast and I eventually found that I was at a dead end because xcdroast simple wasn't very current with scsi.)

Sisnce your using KDE, K3B is a solid reccomendation. Bashburn is good too and is much easier than its terminal interface would lead you to believe.
