what happens when you boot from the DVD?
Did you burned the file you downloaded as a ISO to DVD? (see the help in your burning software)

Hi,

I would add that you should burn the 'image' for the ISO that you downloaded. You should first do a 'md5sum' on the download ISO to insure the copy is valid.

You might use this.

This is a burner program for Windows that makes it easy to burn an ISO image. Use a slow speed on a good quality disk, arrange for the system to boot from the CD drive, and good luck. Welcome to linux.

Sabayon Linux 4-r1, the latest release

If that is the version you are interested in it is a CD, not a DVD, file download from here.

http://www.sabayonlinux.org/mirrors

Try again. An md5sum is a checksum which compares file sizes to see if they match.

first of all......the newest release is a DVD.......ok......
the download should have been something like 4.2 gb
exactly which file did you download?
at the Sabayon site......the md5 download is right next to the file.....
the md5 is just a series of letters and numbers that compare what you are about to burn....
to the original......to see of the download went right......most burn software displays the md5 before it asks you to burn
once downloaded.......ance checked.....
burn image to disk........
if ya want.....put the DVD back in the drive and look at it....
you should probably have 2 folders "boot" and "isolinux" 2 files "livecd" and "livecd.squashfs" and a readme.txt
do you have this?
also the folders will also have files in them......smiles
if all is well......leave the DVD in the drive
restart the puter.........choose boot from cd/dvd
again if all is well
you will see the Sabayon splash screen come up........
be patient ....it take take a minute to boot
lemme know what you get from there.....

nope...your good
your md5 should be this
fd354702e639a5b55a03b6baa25e8acd
does your burner software show this before you burn?
and if you are out of blank DVD-R's you will have to get more
also to help you better after you get it burned right
tell me a little about the pc you are gonna try it on
