Need help booting into Windows.

So I just installed Open Suse 10.1 on a partition and now I want to go back into Windows to get something. But everytime I restart it goes into the boot menu and I select Windows, then I tell it to start Windows earlier. But then it just restarts and the same thing happens. Is there something I need to type in the "boot options"?

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

There should be no need for any boot options.

Can you post the content of /boot/grub/menu.lst here?

Cheers,
Tink

Did you install Linux on the same partition as your windows? If yes, your boot loader may be corrupted or you over write your existing boot loader during your Linux installation.

Mine is also dual boot, windows and RH Linux. Try to edit your Grub Boot loader and see whether it points to your windows installation the boot options.

Well, I have suse 10 instead of 10.1 but you are suppose to have several seconds to choose:

Suse
Windows
Suse Failsafe

I've set up other multiboot systems with grub and have not had it fail but can understand how it would if your partition are not in the proper order or you have bootable partitions on other drives that were not detected!

Once you have booted linux, you can reinstall grub using termianl commands... just run grub as root or use the 'su' command and you will be in the grub console where you can use install or setup commands! More details here:
