ok for starters, did you config the wine directory to have a "fake windows drive", if not go to :
winetools
and get that program to setup your fake C drive in the .wine folder in your /home/<user> directory...
when thats all said and done, you will be able to start installing stuff..

There is no need for that. Just install the RPM. It will create a fake windows drive for you in /usr

Just install the Wine RPM for Red Hat 9 (rh9 in the filename) and then try running notepad. Once that works, try copying across stdole32.tlb, ole32.dll, oleaut32.dll and rpc*.* from a Windows 98 setup to your fake windows drive, in /usr/wine-c (or something like that). That will help you with InstallShield installers.

well lets say you put a program in your cdrom and for demostration purposes lets say it is MSOffice2000...you will navigate to /mnt/cdrom and then issue the command "wine setup.exe"...if you don't go to the cdrom and you want to issue the command from somewheres else, you will have to issue the full command such as:
"wine /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe"
