Need Help... Every Distro Freezes
I work in IT at a bank and am quite proficient with windows, software, hardware, programming, bulding computers, etc... but have only fooled around with linux slightly. I have several distros as of late but none of them load on my PC. All of them say there is no problem detecting hardware and etc, but when they load the KDE Desktop, it freezes. Any ideas?
My PC:
ThermalTake XaserIII USB optical mouse
ThermalTake XaserIII Keyboard
1024 MB of RAM (Corsair)
120 GB Western Digital 7200 RPM HDD
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro COLOR 256 MB (AGP)
Creative Audigy 2 Pro MP3 + w/external audio hub
Intel PRO 10/100/1000 ethernet card
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Processor (2.2GHz, 512KB, 400MHz, Socket A)
DFI LAN Party NFII Ultra Motherboard
- nVIDIAŽ nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset
- RAID 0/1/0+1/RAID 1.5
- 6ch Audio + S/PDIF + NVIDIA SoundStorm
- Dual LANs--Realtek 8101L & ICS 1893Y PHY
- 6 USB 2.0/1.1 Ports (4 Rear + 2 Additional)
- 3 IEEE 1394 FireWire Ports
- ATA 133/100/66; 1 SATA
BIOS up to date (last checked yesterday)...
any help is much appreciated, thank you...

Are you albe to boot to a command prompt and work from there? Does everything work in another DE like GNOME? If so, then you might have found a KDE bug. The only other thing I notice is the nVIdia nForce chipset, which I've heard can be buggy under Linux.
