Need assistance in finding a book

Need help to locate a book that can teach me to maintain Linux Mandrake ver 10.0 without GUI. Currently I use something called putty to excess the server. But I can only do very little with it like make sure everybody is off before doing day end by typing service smb restart and changing password. I need to maintain the server as well as all email address's i.e. deleting old peoples email address and replacing them with the new one. Also making backups etc. Furthermore, I need to know how to install products like squint etc to see if the people at the store are doing there work and not fooling around.

The techi that is responsible for the maintenance is never available when you need him. So it is on me to fix everything.

Please help find me find the correct information that will enable me learn and sort out the problems at the store.

Hello,

I would recommend this link: http://www.tldp.org/LDP/intro-linux/html/index.html
It is an excellent introduction to linux and it teaches you everything using the command-line (which is what you are doing using putty).
More generally, the pages http://www.tldp.org/ are probably an excellent resource for you.

That is a very handy site that bnj refered you to. I use it alot.

Also I used the online tutorials on Linux.org. They are working on new tutorials all the time.

Plus this site has a section on tutorials.

Hope this helps!
