Need advice on Installing JRE on Centos
Hi,
I need to install a Java Runtime Environment on my Centos 4 x86_64 (Intel EM64T - not AMD). The problem is that SUN only have an install for 64bit on Solaris. I found a site that has installs for x86_64 - but it appears to be only for AMD :( blackdown.org/java-linux/java2-status/jdk1.4-status.html Am I right in thinking that i can use the AMD install for a EM64T as they are both x86_64? If I cant do that - is it possible(or wise) to install 32bit Java on a 64bit machine? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Tony |

Thanks :)
After downloading and installing - it turned out that JRE 1.5.0_3 is already installed - its just not linked to. Centos 4 x86_64 puts it here.... /usr/java/jre1.5.0_03 I created a symbolic link in the root and its working fine now :) Thanks for jumping in there though ;) |
