I don't think Gregg Bell would be enamoured of extensive and intensive use of the command line during installation (see post #35). Obviously he can answer for himself. I think he has already found a perfect solution for his particular situation with antiX MX-14.4. PS Your two videos are a laugh. |
ardvark71,
I have just installed antiX MX-14.4 (the pae version) inside VirtualBox on my main computer and it works a treat. No problems at all with the installation. Distrowatch: http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=08858 Arindam Sen has done a very positive review: http://mylinuxexplore.blogspot.co.uk...iew-truly.html Extract from AS's review: Quote:

There. Fixed that for ya. |
rokytnji,
As you pointed out, MX-14 is indeed based on Debian Stable. I should have said that antiX is based on Debian Testing. In MX-13 there was a choice of Debian Stable or Testing or Unstable. |

Also, I thought the MX14 had added a couple of software install choices right in the menu so you can just click on "add codecs" or install flash with one click. Plus I think they added firefox and other browsers for one click install. I could be wrong, but that is one thing that impressed me when I glanced at the features. Keep us updated on how it works out! |

Wow, if MX can run smooth on a system with your specs, this looks very promising! For everyone: Thank you for the information, links and specs you gave me, much appreciated! :) Regards... |

The only drawback is that a novice user will have no idea what to do with some of the options or even what they mean, so some research and know how will definitely be needed. ;) Regards... |
Gregg Bell,
Just to say that synaptic does in fact have a search function. Its magnifying glass icon is at the top on the right. |
Gee, maybe I should've watched the video before I installed! Oh well. I got it done. Thanks for the info about synaptic etc. I'm looking forward to using it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozill...ject#IceWeasel I've been using it for at least a year, and as far as I can tell there is no functional difference. Even the addons are 100% compatible. |
