Nautilius and search in Ubuntu 14.04 broken

Hi all,

While I was in the middle of upgrading from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 the install froze (it was updating DropBox if that means anything to anyone). I figured I was screwed but everything seeems OK except Nautilus seems a bit more unstable than it used to be. Connecting to remote servers using a GUI window and opening folders with many (>1,000 or so) files have been causing it to become irresponsive and sometimes crash. I reinstalled Nautilus but this didn't solve the problem.

The other problem I'm having is that when I start typing in an open folder to search it for files matching that string, nothing happens. The regular search via CTRL+F still works. Does anyone know what package I could try to re-install to fix this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't really have time to reformat my machine and do a fresh install right now.

Thanks!
Kevin

It sounds like your internet connection went down while in the middle of your upgrade.
Since Nautilus is unstable and typing in a file is unresponsive I think something is broken.

What is the output of:
Code:
uname -a
and
cat /etc/os-release
Did you have all of the updates applied to Ubuntu Saucy Salamander 13.10 before you upgraded to 14.04?

-:-It's very important to have all updates applied to your current version of Ubuntu before you upgrade.-:-
