When I restarted my DNS i got the following errors

unknown ACl 'ip address'
multiple CNAMES

the IP address is the one for one of the NS servers and when I ping the address it is okay. Properly configured
Any Idea.

Another question, why would my DNS server keep on stoping the named daemon, yet it is properly configured

Only when you restart?

Mult CNAMES would mean that a CNAME is the same as a IN A record. (circualr ref)

Pinging and address and having a properly config'd DNS are two eggs from a different planet. Are we talking one of your name servers (for which you are authoritative) or a parent server?

I've never seen an unkown 'ACl' error. I don't even know that that is. do you have the phrase 'ip address' in your named.conf or any zone files?

... and I will refrain comment on the last statement in your post for someone with more decorum as my mood has grown sour.
