Nagios Email Issue

I have got a nagios server running on my network, The configuration seems to be okay but each time there is a service alert notification, and an e-mail is sent to the contact group, Nagios continuously sends e-mail over and over again. Do anyone know of a way to set Nagios directives to only send one e-mail per alert without it flooding mail boxes.

Best way to start, if you haven't done so already, is reading http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3...fications.html as it explains not only notifications and escalations but also which configuration items to check. This because saying "The configuration seems to be okay" does not help those (who know what to look for in configuration files and Nagios log files) help you, if you dig what I'm hinting at.

Thanks I need to know the flag that control How many times an email should be sent. I have got a hunch that is something to do with the notification_interval but how do you set this to set e-mail only once.

You're spot on Babs. notification_interval is the correct directive to control this. It is the "number of "time units" to wait before re-notifying a contact" that a host or service is down. The default is 60 meaning you will get re-notified every hour. To accomplish what you want, simply set it to 0 which means only one problem notification will be sent out.
