N73 Modem Blues

Hi.

My first time post is'nt an easy one. This question has been raised a few times on these boards, but here goes again.

I have a Nokia N73. I'm running Ubuntu 8.1 and want to be able to connect to the web via my N73 either on BT or USB cable.

I've tried the suggested fixes here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ternet-635611/ but get this output when i try and dial

sudo wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Sending: AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP","Optus Internet"
AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP","Optus Internet"
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid phone number.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid login name.
--> Configuration does not specify a valid password.

I have no user or pass for this account (Optus Internet in Sydney) and for some reason my phone doesnt recognise *99# as a dialout number.

Any help?

Thanks for your time

Hi

Sent you an old howto via LQ email, written by Bill Unruh that helped me no end with PPP a while ago - did you get the email containing the howto? Didn't want to post it all here, it's several pages long.

Can you confirm?

When you answer by e-mail, no one but OP benefits -- please post a link for all to enjoy.
