mysql uninstallation
Hello :
I am a newbie. I have installed mysql while I was installing linux on my machine. I was trying to install snort with mysql support so that I can capture all the alerts from snort into mysql database and later generate graphs etc. I think I did not complie snort with mysql options as the default installtion of mysql (when installing with Linux) was not in the /usr/local/mysql folder. So in order to recomplie snort with mysql , without uninstalling mysql from my machine, I downloaded the source code of mysql and complied and installed it. I am not sure what's happening now. Nothing seems to work. Can you please help me ? Please suggest what can be done. Also initial version of mysql only logs on with root and mysql -p command. I tried granting user named snort all privilleges but is not working ? Can I restart from scratch by uninstalling eveything ? Please help. Thanks a lot. Sincerely, Aashish |
If you can answer these questions for me, It will be great -
1) Can you please tell me how do I uninstall Mysql rpm. Once I am able to do so, I would reinstall mysql and can begin my work. 2) Is there any way to uninstall the code which I complied using ./configure --with-mysql=/user/local/mysql and make and then make install Thanks Aashish |
