mysql error
 

Hello,

when i trying to start mysql i get this error

Starting MySQL.Manager of pid-file quit without updating fi[FAILED]

maybe we can help you if you provide us with more information. How did you start mysqld? How did you install mysqld? Did you start it as root?

incorrect permissions
 

I know this is an old thread at this point, but I wanted to update with another potential issue. If the mysql user doesn't have write permission to the location the pid file goes, it will also give this same error. I found this forum in my search for that answer and wanted to leave it here for anyone else who stumbles across this same problem.
