My sound doesn't work on a Soundblaster Live 24 bit internal card

My sound card doesn't work(Soundblaster Live 24 bit internal sound card)
Sometimes it works if i reboot it a couple times but now it isn't working at all. I have it dual booted with windows xp and the sound works just fine on XP. But it did work on Linux before. I don't have the money and time to replace or upgrade the sound card. My os is Linux Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) can somebody please help?

Hi nick-perla, Welcome to lq. Have you tried opening a mixer and unmuting your sound or raising the volume? Please post the output from the following.
Code:

sudo lspci -v
sudo lsmod

Good luck. ;-)

Get your sound back

Nick using synaptic or apt install asoundconf-gtk this will allow you to set the soundblaster card as default and lock it in. After the install you will find it under system/preferences. While your enjoying your music explore the other suggestions given if only for experience/understanding.
