My pictures as screen saver in Linux Mint 13 Maya operating system

How can I have a continually changing screensaver of My Pictures as I did with WindowsXP?

You can install Variety which will do what you require.

In Menu, open Terminal, then type the following, pressing Enter after each command.

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:peterlevi/ppa
Give your user password and press Enter again.

Code:
sudo apt-get update
Code:
sudo apt-get install variety
Once Variety is installed you can uncheck/untick the boxes for various wallpaper sources and press Add.

Then select your own pictures for use as continually changing screensavers.

You can also vary the time interval between changes.

Thanks very much for your help. I entered the first command in Terminal and was then asked for my password. The white cursor was flashing but I was unable to make an entry and after flashing for a few times the cursor became static. No way could I make an entry although I have tried several times.

Just repeat the process.

When you are asked for your user password, for reasons of security, the password is not actually displayed.

Once you have typed your correct password, press the Enter key.

Xscreensaver's GLSlideshow, as well as a number of other screensavers in Xscreensaver, will allow you to display images from directories on your hard drive. In the Advanced Tab, point the "Image Manipulation" field towards your pictures folder.

If your distro did not come with Xscreensaver, remove whatever lamer screensaver, such as Gnome screensaver or Kscreensaver, it came with and install Xscreensaver. It's the granddaddy of Linux screensavers.

The configuration routine of Xscreensaver can be invoked with the command "xscreensaver-demo," if your desktop environment/window manager does not add it to the menu automatically.
