my nec versa A2200 got no sound
 

i have a nec versa a2200 and i have aproblem..theproblem is the icon of sound appear but no sound like a hardware prob but when i try uing my friends windows hdd the sound appear so how i want to settle this problem

We have to found out if there is a linux driver or not. What distro or version of Linux are you using? If you have root access or can sudo please run the lspci command and post the output on here so we can locate your sound card and see what kind it is.
