My Linux won't boot after upgrade.

hey,

I recently upgraded my system to ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS i think it went smoothly until it restarted. the initial restart came up with a loading screen tht said /tmp folder needed to be mounted press m to manually mount or s to skip but neither button worked so i unpluged it. now no matter what i do or what code i put in i've even tried grub (which doesn't seem to be worth a squat) and updating it with a usb but i get nowhere. and i still can not get out of the loading screen for my system to boot up. i don't have any cd installation and i broke my usb trying to get it to work. i don't know what else to do besides take it into the geek squad.
