My Linux keeps on freezing.
Hello.
I've been trying to install stuff for some days, and I noticed one very disappointing thing. Whenever I input "make", my linux will freeze after some time. Cursor doesn't move, keyboard doesn't do anything and so on. I've tried to install SSH-3.2.9.1 and oer, both had the same problem. I've mandrake 10. This is very irritating because I can't use my comp due this freezing. Specs: -1700mhz P4 -512mt SDR -220W powersource Thanks in advance. |
Freezing = hard lock-up, you need to reset?
Or freezing = machine continues to work but becomes irresponsive? Cheers, Tink |
Machine continues to work, but you can't do anything, and I have to reset. So I think it's both :p

Can you switch to a console, does it stay reachable
via ssh/telnet/whatever? When you say it continues working, does that mean the HDD light just doesn't come off at all, or can you (after a reset) verify that it did what it was meant to? Cheers, Tink |
