My keys (^ ' ~) require a space to print on Swedish keymap.

My keys (^ ' ~) require a space to print on Swedish keymap. This is annoying. I have no idea how to fix it and the ubuntu forums are worthless. (Im running ubuntu 8.10).

I know I've done the same thing years ago but I can't remember at all.

The problem is when I try to, for example, print a tilde (~). It's located to the left of [ENTER] and I need to press: Alt Gr+Tilde and then Space. Of course its useful for ñ and ü but I'd prefer if I could eliminate this process.

Thanks in advance

/Richard

Ah - understand the problem, after looking up Swedish keyboard layout. The default function of the AltGr key in Gnome is to function as a "compose" key, allowing the entry of accented characters. However, it should be possible to switch the function to a different key:

System > Preferences > Keyboard > Layouts > Layout options> Compose key position

Testing this on my laptop, it isn't working for me at the moment (a restart of Gnome may be required).

Hope this helps a little,
Rob

But that will only move around the compose key, no? What I want is to remove the key completely. So that I don't need it.
