The "good news" is that Fedora 15 has reached its end of life and is completely unsupported, so you can simply start fresh with Fedora 18.

I'm sure there are other options, I'm just giving you my best suggestion based on the information you've provided so far.

what is the system specs ?
is the hardware even able to use the gnome desktop in the End Of Life-and unsupported fedora 15
768 meg ram is the VERY minimum and 2+ gig is better with 4+ gig good
is the 3d card supported ?
if it is a very old gforce5 or older , it is not

and 15 is 3 versions and has now been unsupported for over 6 months

please stay current and install fedora 18 -- if your hardware can use it
recommended minimum
64 bit cpu
1 gig ram ( 2 to 4 is better )
10 gig disk space ( it fits on a 16 gig usb )

There is no place for hope in that. If you don't want to loose your data make backups.

Don't upgrade a broken system---it might still be broken!
Back up and test drive the new release. If you are satisfied with the test drive, then do a fresh reinstall and restore your data from backup. If the test drive doesn't work, then try a bunch of distros until you are satisfied. There are many threads on these forums about "best distro for old hardware."

with only 1 gig of ram
gnome3 will be rather slow

i would look at using xfce or lxde Desktops

do you have a 3d card ?
if so Nvidia,ATI/AMD , or a built in "chip" on the motherboard
see the fedora compatibility list
