My Dual Boot Woes
I run XP off of a 20 GB hard drive....I bought and installed a 250 GB hard drive that I want to use for storage....installed it no problem, then decided to install Redhat for fun (I've never used linux before) on this new hard drive.
Install, no problems, until I go to restart, then I get a "GRUB" hard disk error....from Google, I see that GRUB is a pain, so I re-install, using LILO.....now, where I had the GRUB error before, I have a "L"....can't load either OS, I get errors when trying to load Redhat from the bootdisk, after several tries and different floppies. Everything I see is saying to "fdisk" but I can't get to the command prompt! If it matters, I have the XP hard drive pinned to master, and the new one (with Redhat) pinned to slave. I really don't care if I lose Redhat....it was just for fun anyhow....I'd rather not lose the info on my 20 GB hard drive.....ideally I could get both of the OS's to work, but if not, I need to just load XP, and format the new hard drive to get rid of my Redhat aggravation I'm semi-retarded when it comes to the techie-talk, so use little words, and be as detailed as possible in your explanations.... |
what errors do you get when trying to boot from the floppy?
