my driver doesn't exist for linux
 
I just installed ubuntu but their is one major problem.
the card I have in my pc is Hercules Muse Lt, but it only has drivers for windows. because of that I cannot play anny music or video's with my ubuntu. Does anybody know how that can be helped?

What sort of device is this card (sound? video? ethernet?)? What does lspci say about the chipset on the card?

it is a soundcard and this is what my lspci says:

That's the line that describes the soundcard. It's a very common soundcard. The module that you need is called snd-intel8x0

sudo modprobe snd-intel8x0

Then run alsamixer to set the levels (type m to unmute the channels). Then save the levels with alsactl store

sudo alsactl store

@Andrew, you are running in a dream life with LFS, Ubuntu doesn't come with alsamixer(I dont think).

Yeah, you shouldn't have any problem with that sound card.
