Yes, Corel is ancient. But also: You don't say where in the install process it hangs up. eg does the CD boot up? Did you have the opportunity to modify the partitions?
Normally, if you have Vista pre-installed, it will be using the whole disk. I doubt that the Corel installer allows for re-sizing and Windows partition. I also doubt that it supports a SATA harddrive, which you almost certainly have.
