My Corel LINUX OS Installation CD will not load on my new PC. Any help?

I purchased a new PC with Windows VISTA loaded on the hard drive. I want to load my COREL LINUX OS, Installation CD, but all that happens is I get the first screen indicating the system and files are loading, but I don't see the processor light flickering indicating the system is loading. Am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.

Corel Linux was discontinued YEARS ago (around 2001).. You should really grab something a bit more current.

Suggestions

Ubuntu
OpenSuse
Fedora
Debian

Yes. Nowadays there's Xandros, which is based on it, but to tell the truth I have no idea how similar or different it is from what once was Corel Linux.

Welcome to LQ!!

Yes, Corel is ancient. But also: You don't say where in the install process it hangs up. eg does the CD boot up? Did you have the opportunity to modify the partitions?

Normally, if you have Vista pre-installed, it will be using the whole disk. I doubt that the Corel installer allows for re-sizing and Windows partition. I also doubt that it supports a SATA harddrive, which you almost certainly have.
