My computer
I made a mistake & deleted a bunch of stuff off my computer by pushing the janitor clean up button how do I restore my computer back to a good connection or what do I have to do to fix the problem
|
This is the first I've heard of a janitor cleanup button. Which distro is that in? And why does the janitor cleanup button go deleting files (unless they are already in the trash bin)?
I suggest that you restore the lost files from your most recent backup. |
I clicked a button sounding something like that a few years back, if I remember right, the button was labeled "System Restore", and after I clicked, my machine never worked again either :/ and I had to remove the operating system and switch to a different one.

In UBUNTU they call it janitor button in mandriva they make a command for it .
Never use that button nor the command . The purpose of both is to clean up you're system . Mostly it clean up far too much . And you end with not working system. It would be nice if we have in linux something like what we call in OSX Onyx |
Try a live-cd...
If you want to recover your data content files, you can use a live-cd such as PCLinuxOS and copy them to some other medium. Then you can install your linux distribution from scratch. and copy your files back. Repair or re-installation from the installation CD/DVD is a possibility, but a clean installation has a better chance. |
If you've used your system much since then, the odds against get very high.
Photorec is very popular for recovery. |
