my bash_profile does not execute

.bash_profile is supposed to run whenever I log in.
But I found that it only works when I type . ./.bash_profile manually in
Konsole. How can I automate the execution of the .bash_profile file?

Thanks a lot

Are you using bash?
Can be check by looking at /etc/passwd file.

Need more info
Distro?
Version?
Kernel Version?
Gui and version if using?
Contents of your .bash_profile

yes. I'm using BASH.

Debian 3.1
KDE 3.3
Kernel 2.4.25

my bash_profile only contains one command

export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:/home/zhibinwu/ns-allinone-2.28/bin

all other lines are commented.

Thanks!

How about using that line in the ~/.bashrc file instead.
See if that works
