Mutibyte support in text mode.

Hello All,

When i changes environment variable LANG to other language example Japanese, for Japanese i set this variable as
LANG=ja_JP.utf-8 then running command say date displays output in Japanese. When i follow same procedure in text mode date command displays some garbage characters. I switched to text mode using ctrl+alt+f2. Can anyone tell mi, what should i do to display Japanese(multibyte) characters in text mode.

You need a program that can display multibyte characters on a tty, like bterm, fbterm, jfbterm, fbiterm, zhcon.

Please tell us what distribution and version you use, this will help us to know what's easily available in your case and hopefully give you an advice how to install it.
