mute sound alsa mixer - used to work

Hi,

The last 3 times I've booted in linux I haven't succeeded in having sound comming out of my speakers. Here are some facts:

1. It used to work fine ;-)
2. No new drivers or kernels etc. have been installed
3. XMMS seems to be playing just fine, and Mplayer as well (still no sound)
4. With the program alsamixer I have turned everything up
5. DMESG and LPCI shows that the card is found nicely.

Can I have muted it in some way ??

Thanks,
T
