Music Somewhere in a Tmp?

Howdy:
When I play music from an online source, from a friend's myspace page, or other website - is that music (song) stored somewhere in a tmp directory on my laptop? I'm using Ubuntu Feisty.
Thanks much.

Maybe there's a way I can do it with XMMS. Because when XMMS plays from StreamTuner, the input is a URL, right? If the input to XMMS could be the URL of the music on whichever website?

Let me ask this:
How do I extract .shn files.
Again, I'm running Ubuntu Feisty.
Thanks

The question has morphed. I'm going to start a new post.
