multiple X servers - hangs

Dear community!

When I trying to connect to remote server using

X :1 --query <server>

appears a new X VT but gray without any mention of remote desktop.
Moreover, Ctrl-Alt-F1 (F2,F3) combinations do not work.
(I know it is F7-F8 etc. on other systems)

Client is Fedora 10 on HP notebook, server is CentOS 5.2

XManager 3 on Windows connects to this server just fine.
startx -- :1 on client also works fine.

Thank you.

Do you have the right ports open on the firewall on the Fedora machine?

Try adding UDP port 177, and TCP ports 6000 and 16001.
