Multiple Virtual resolutions

I am using Pseudo-Xinerama mode on my radeon 9800 using the DRI drivers with dual framebuffer (because I'm using xfree 4.4 I can't use the ati drivers).

Anyway, I can get it to work just fine, but I'd like to have more modes accessible to me. Because of the way this works there is one screen section rather than 2, and it just spans across both monitors as a large desktop. the one screen section defines the resolutions, and virtual mode that can be used. I've tried defining more than one virtual mode and while it didn't create an error I still can't change the resolution.

For example, I go to the KDE monitor wizard and it shows that there are 2 monitors in 2560x960. That however, is the only choice, and I can't seem to get more listed in there so I can change resolution if I should want to.

So anyone know how I can define multiple modes to switch between?

I've searched but not seen an xf86config that has multiple virtual modes or anything as yet.
