Multiple OS issue-can't find fedora on bootup
 

I've installed fedora 10 on my PC yesterday along with Microsoft XP SP2...after a lot of struggle i finally got through with the installation and i used it for a shprt while..then i switched to XP a short while later,then i found an error on start-up saying some boot error!!
Then i re-installed XP and i found that the choice for fedora boot on startup was missing!!! I need someone to help me out..the OS is installed but its not booting.. i saw some refernces of 'grub' mentioned on googling..but i can't sort this out still!! pls help me!!!


P.S.:I'm an absolute newbie so pls be clear with your replies!!

When Windows is reinstalled it will overwrite the masterbootrecord of your harddrive. That disables the bootloader. You will have to boot with a Live-CD and do a chroot into your Linux-partition and reinstall the bootloader.

Most install CDs allow you to use the root=/dev/sdan option when booting to automatically chroot and log into the linux system installed on /dev/sdan. Say you installed linux on /dev/sda3, you'd boot from the install CD and type linux root=/dev/sda3 at the boot: prompt. You should be able to log into your linux system and then use the appropriate command for whatever bootloader you use. (LILO is just lilo or lilo -M /dev/sda to reinstall. I'm not certain what any other bootloaders use, but it should be in the man pages for the specific bootloader.)
