multiple groups permissions

is it possible to assign more than one group to a folder for permissions in linux like you can with windows? with windows you can add group1 and group2 to the permissions of a folder and set different permissions to that folder, i cant see if you can do this in linux?
if someone knows please could they explain how i would do it or a link to somewhere that can?

thank you very much.

You can use the setgid bit on the folder. The link below will explain how to do so in RedHat 4.0.

Hope this helps.

For both of you, it helps if you fill in your profile with your distro...

Welcome to LQ!
the more universal (not restricted to one distro) way would be to use chmod- RH4 is outdated alot.

hope this helps
