if you have installed linux and windows xp on two different boxes, you can set the linux hard disk to boot automatically and configure grub or lilo to have options for both the OS to choose from when starting up.

Also, what's "linux 5" ?

Need a more information. What boot loader are you using? The setup is different for lilo and grub. Which ever, please post the config file you have. Also open a konsole in linux and run the command 'df' and post the results.

The grub config file is /boot/grub/menu.lst . The lilo file is called lilo.conf. I don't remember the location, so if you are using it, you will have to find it. If by chance you are using some other boot method, please tell us what you are using.

You don't say if both are working----can you boot up in either system? both?

The "booting" link below might be useful.
