MPlayer video out prob

alright....so I installed MPlayer-0.90rc3 and it worked. It played avi, DVD and mov with only 2 problems

1. the OSB fonts weren't installed yet
2. DVD play was slow.

After reviewing how to fix the slow DVD play. I attempted changing the video output device. Now my mplayer doesn't even open the file. It can't find the codec. I'm a newbie by the way. Here's what it tells me:

Using GNU internationalization

Original domain: messages

Original dirname: /usr/share/locale

Current domain: mplayer

Current dirname: /usr/local/share/locale

MPlayer 0.90rc3-3.2 (C) 2000-2003 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS)

Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx

ewwwwwwwww coldplay!!! nasty wet drippy nothingy dross..... sorry.... can't help myself. anyway...

well the file you have is an ASF i.e. microsoft format, so you'll need to install the win32 codec pack properly and recompile mplayer. the pack is on http://mplayerhq.hu as well as a million other places.
