I don't understand the problem exactly, it'd be much more helpful if you state what you're trying to play; a dvd, an avi, what?

Does anything else give you problems?

Also, can you post mplayer's terminal output so that we can see what was happening at the time it exited?

Sure. But seems like mplayer is oblivious to the fact that more then one clip make a movie.
When first one ends it out put end of file.
IF the whole movie is in file it pays it fine. But not so if movie is in 2 or 3
files.
For example this movie is about 2 hrs long. But mplayer quits in 5 mins,

Code:
champ@3(NXDOMAIN):~> mplayer dvd://

/media/BH4DVD/VIDEO_TS/VTS_08_0.BUP /media/BH4DVD/VIDEO_TS/VTS_15_1.VOB
champ@3(NXDOMAIN):~>
It plays one clip after another. Hence play the whole thing. But video screen disappear after every clip and then comes back.
Like it plays it in shape of files not like a whole movie.

Thank you.

You might try using gplayer and opening the dvd. Then the menus will work as well.

Have you tried specifying the title number to play? For example:
Code:
mplayer dvd://2
or
mplayer dvd://3

Have you tried SMPlayer? It's essentially mplayer but with a far more accessible GUI.

mplayer dvd://
That's how how mplayer is supposed to work. Without a titlenumber it assumes title 1 (and plays only title one - the first clip as you said). If the DVD contains a single title only, then it still plays only the first title, but it will appear to you as the entire DVD, because there are no other titles.

Note the difference between titles and chapters.

You can do something like:
mplayer dvd://1 && mplayer dvd://2 && ... etc
or install xine or some other player that does all this for you.
