mplayer on ydl 5.0 for ps3
 

i have installed mplayer with no difficulty and now im trying to play a movie from my hd and everytime i put in the cammand i am given this response:

mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libmad.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

the player pack that i installed is mplayer-checkout-snapshot.tar.bz2

i tried manually putting in the codecs using this topic: linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=509213
i had to make the folder codecs.

any help would be greatly appreciated thx!

It looks like you are missing MAD development files. I would first attain and install the headers and re-try to compile mplayer.

i'm sorry i don't know where to get the MAD files or what a header is... i literally installed linux 3 days ago.
