Angry mplayer installation

Hi everyone I was a microsoft windows user and have just started using fedora. I have managed to get most things working so far but can't watch movies. The message I get is "Totem cannot play this type of media (DVD) because it does not have the appropiate plugins to be able to read the disc".
I have downloaded mplayer but do not know how to install it. Could somehow help with the installtion or let me know if there is any other software for this.

Many thanks.

You don't say where you downloaded it from. The main page (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html), has complete documentation, including installation instructions. You need to install the libdvdcss libraries, which will let you get DVD playback. If you've gotten your repositories set up, a quick search should let you install the packages.

Alternatively, you can install gstreamer and its plug-ins and the dvd libraries and Totem will work.
