OK, MPlayer works, works fullscreen, etc. Yes!!!

Just wondering if anyone can help with the two versions of zlib and libpng.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your help.

Haha, to tell you the truth after all that fiddling for so many hours today I'm not sure. Probably during a re-install I was careless and installed a different version.

Would his initial problem have been solved by making a directory /usr/local/lib/mplayer/ and putting mplayer and the libpng-2.2.2.17 in that directory and using this script named mplayer (in /usr/bin).
Code:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/
/usr/lib/mplayer/mplayer
OK, I know, the mplayer-qui provides more files. But is this a way to deal with version conflicts.

His best bet may be to try to install an older version mplayer-qui rpm.
