Mplayer Dvd

Does anyone know where else i can download this from apart from the home page http://mplayerhq.hu/homepage because there link doesn't seem to work, and also which version should i download as i want to run text based rather than gui? if someone know where i can get an rpm that installs everything i need that would be a great help.

and finally since i'm here how do i install this file MPlayer-0.60.tar.bz2??

you DON'T install 0.60, that is ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold. get 0.90pre5

and those rpms links DO work fine. I would ALWAYS recommend compiling from source though, and how to do that is detailed a million times on this site already so hav a little search.

MPlayer rules, as long as you don't use the gui. you always need to specifically load the GUI, it will not use it by default, so any version is fine.

What's so wrong with the GUI? Once I finally took your advice and compiled from source, and upgraded my GCC to 3.0 (or 3.1) it was a much better program. But when I run gmplayer, it works just fine. I middle click if I am playing a DVD, or right click for the reg vid files. But, it seems to work fine for regular video watching. If I want to do something more, the command line rules, but what's so bad for regular use with gmplayer (or mplayer -gui)?

it's not stable, and the developers really hate it, and they're the first to admit they don't want it there, and as such it's always the last thing to get developed and bugfixed. and of course, console IS faster.
